had a great time!

What a wonderful time we had at our first SAPO picnic!  I estimate around 40-50 people showed, and we had plenty of food and water donations.  The location worked well, even though it was pretty humid; the entire area was pretty well shaded.

The “Ask Me” labels generated many good conversations. There were quite a few folks who found us online, that were new to San Antonio and/or Paganism. Hopefully the connections made will help them along the way.

I’m not sure if I can post videos here, but if I can, you can see the amazing hula-hoop lady!

want your photo taken? Get a smiley sticker!

Janea & I have decided to have smiley face stickers available to show you are OK with having your picture taken at the SAPO picnic for online posting. We want to share our day with others, so please ensure you get a sticker if you want to smile for the camera! We will not post any photos where people are NOT wearing it. Thanks!

SAPO has assumed their name

I filed the Assumed Name paperwork this morning at the Bexar County Clerk’s office, and have certified copies in hand. San Antonio Pagan Outreach is now legal! And now we have in writing what many of you have suspected for years; Janea Danae and I really ARE certifiable! ;)

What SAPO is all about

“I have inherited a belief in community, the promise that a gathering of the spirit can both create and change culture.  In the desert, change is nurtured even in stone by wind, by water, through time.” – Terry Tempest Williams

I wanted to briefly touch on one of the main reasons SAPO exists. For the record, it’s NOT to become a non-profit, or fund a community center. If those things happen down the road because SAPO brought people together, great. But our primary goal is to get the Pagan community connected outside of social media; to really sit down and TALK to each other. Who are you; who am I; what do we have in common on a deeper level than the latest Facebook meme or Cause of the Day? People get motivated to do so much more; we care so much more; when our lives are shared by more than sound bytes and status blogs.

By building real-time relationships, we can change the culture of our little part of the world here in San Antonio, and build the scattered social niches into a solid network of friendships. Most of us, outside our personal groups, don’t really know each other past an online presence; a very small aspect of a whole personality. SAPO would like to help change that.

A work in progress

I know just enough about WordPress to be dangerous, so the look/feel of the site will be changing over the next couple months.  If you have any suggestions, please post them on the Facebook discussion forum.  Thanks!

Welcome to SAPO’s web site

This is the web site that will be used to announce the San Antonio Pagan Outreach mission, events etc to the general public (Pagan and non-Pagan).  It will be used on flyers, business cards and other advertising venues.  Our discussion forum is on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/sanantoniopaganoutreach/

This website is a work in progress, so please just bookmark for now.  Janea Danae and I are really excited about SAPO’s community potential – I hope you’ll join us in the fun!
